If you’re a marathon runner or you’re training for your very first marathon, Singapore has marathon events that run through the year. If you’re travelling to Singapore, the country is very easily accessible, with daily flights in and out of the city. Weather, can be a challenge, since Singapore can get quite hot and dry. Remember to stay well hydrated before, during and after your event.
SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon – This marathon is held in August and starts at the Esplanade Bridge. The run is organised by SAFRA and the Armed forces. The run includes 21km Half marathon, 10km, 5km fun run and a 800m challenge.
The Straits Times run at the Hub – This run is scheduled for September, which takes place at the dome, Singapore’s new state-of-the-art stadium. The main sponsor for this event is New Balance. The company provides a race vest and commemorative event T-shirt. New Balance also provides goodies for winners and runners ups. The event includes 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km runs.
Newton Challenge – Although not a marathon event, categories include a 32km and an 18km. This event runs in October. The run promises participants scenic views along the event’s route. It takes place at Big Splash, which is at East coast park.
Swissotel Vertical Marathon- If you’re looking for a challenge, this unconventional marathon will get you in great shape. The race challenges participants to scale a 73 storey building. This event is scheduled for November.
